The morning dew

It rained this early morning. My plant had a refreshing morning shower before the sunrise.

Sunday morning

The sun was operating at maximum heat when I came home this morning from my usual sunday hike. The lights danced off the white walls and I caught a glimpse of several little purple blooms hanging off my balcony. I have no green fingers but my cleaning lady Kak Nor does. She told me she found it pitiful to find plants deserted by their previous owners. Many times she brought them back to her kampong home where her mom would nurse them to good health in her own garden. Recently her garden is getting a little bit busy and she started to set up a new mini nursery at my back balcony. Gradually over the weeks, I found this lilac plant, and several other house plants that I know no names. She even helped to take care of my birthday bonsai. Today the flowers bloom to prepare for the pollinating season. I am sure Kak Nor would be very delighted on her next visit.

Happy Mother's Day

A mother's care is healing,
For it soothes the body, mind and soul.

A mother's love is pure,
It becomes puere as she grows old.

A mother is replaceable,
She is always there to give.

A mother is unconditional,
I will love her for as long as I shall live.

Happy Mother's Day.

Sunset at North South Highway

The sut set later these days in May. Traffic is slow on the way towards Kuala Lumpur. I don't mind as I get to admire the sun set along the highway.

The Malaysian sky

I went home on Labour Day. As May 2nd was a holiday, many have taken this opportunity to balik kampung. The highway was rather queit. Even the clouds have come out to play. I noticed the background Malaysian sky share the same shade of blue as Perth.

Birthday feast

Nothing beats home cooked meal, especially the one prepared specially for my birthday. Without fail, mom would prepare her famous curry chicken, a concoction of tender chicken meat and potato, simmering in a delicious reddish gravy of mixed spices, chilis and coconut milk. There is dad's favourite black sauce fried noodles which is also a traditional birthday dish to celebrate longetivity - a wish that I would like to extend to my parents.

The "pumpkin pot" is the latest addition to mom's long list of recipes. It is a mix stew of delicious shrimps and finely chopped meat, balanced delicately with crunchy cashew nuts, and sweet juicy pumpkin, frangrant chives and various unknown spieces. It is the most exquisite comfort food - ideal "perk me up" dinner dish especially during a stormy evening. Writing about it make my mouth water again.
