The kids at Kasih Sayang

A little update on the progress of the kids at the Home. They are doing very well with their English lesson, thanks to my kid sister's program. I adapted quite a lot because their level was not that great. Last session about two weeks ago, Raj ( age 5) did not even know what a door, a ball, and a bed is. This week, he was happily and correctly placing the playcard next to the right objects. His sister Saral , a beautiful 7 yo joined us. I thought she was good with her vocabulary until her brother Dama came running into the house. Dama was the best among them all. He could read the entire sentence structure except that there are occassional grammatical mistakes. I am happy with the kids' progress. I left the story of "Forgive and Foreget" from the Winnie the Pooh series with them. It is a story about how Rabbit eventually forgave Tigger despite the trick Tigger played on Rabbit.

I took a few pictures of the kids but somehow accidentally delete them while I sync the camera. My apology. Will take their pictures in my next visit two weeks from now

What I got for my birthday

My best buddy got me a little bonsai. I am sure Mom is going to shake her head worrying about the fate of this poor plant. I have got the instruction on how to water it - once a day and leave it in direct sunlight. (Yes mom ?)

I am truly blessed with all the greetings, phone calls and sms that I have got. Yi Lin told me the best part of my life is starting now. Lisa said "In 20s, we were dumb. In 30s, we thought we conquered the world. Only in 40s, we sort of embrace who we are". Sounded like a similar saying from the Confuscius. Since when Aunty Lisa turned so wise.

Secret.....

My kid sister is in Perth to visit my 4th sister. I really wish I could join them. Utterly eager to share their joy, I have been hounding them asking them what they are doing through YM and sms. Today, I texted :

Me "Wat you doing ? Wat you eating ? Wat you cooking ? Wat you buying? Wat....."

An hour passed by...no reply....then another hour... finally, my handphone screen lighted up - a sure sign of sms reply

Pris : "...secret..."

My 1st step

I have never written about my job, but this is too excited not to share. My 1st training to train 10 managers to be coaches. And what makes it even more special, this client is non-other than my ex-company Magnus. Two days workshop ended yesterday and hopefully more will come.

The perfect birthday card for 2nd aunt

Every year without fail, I will receive a birthday card from Er Yi, my 2nd aunt. However I seldom reciprocate .The convenience of telephone , and now made worse by sms, has given me the excuse that a birthday card is no longer necessary. The truth is, there is always a personal effort behind the selection , writing and the task of even sticking the stamp on the envelope. This year, I decide that I shall not allow myself with the same excuse again. Here it is, the perfect "crocodile card" for Er Yi !

Where do our old buses go ?

I felt sorry to see all the old buses being dumped at this busyard at Antara Gapi. A quick estimate showed about 100 of them, some even with their license plates on. With their paint intact , they are like old soldiers in full uniform, left stranded at the old folks home. I wonder if there are other more dignified ways to retire these old workhorses who have worked hard shuttling the city folks, either rain or shine.
